BANDUNG, - The capital of West Java was chosen to host the 2019 World Zakat Forum (WZF) International Conference which was attended by more than 30 zakat organizations around the world. This conference was held from 5 - 7 November 2019 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Bandung and was officially opened by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma'ruf Amin on Tuesday 5 November 2019.

The Acting (pj) Regional Secretary of West Java Province Daud Achmad welcomed of the WZF International Conference 2019 representatives and participants in Gala Dinner at Gedung Sate Building, Bandung. Representing West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, Daud appreciated the 2019 WZF International Conference and said that zakat is one of the solutions to alleviate poverty and balancing of social inequality. Daud also said, the role of the zakat agency really helped the government including the West Java Regional Government (Pemda) in tackling the problem of poverty.

The reason, continued Daud, zakat management institutions are in line with social, educational, and health matters. "The formal institution that manages zakat funds is very helpful in dealing with the problem of poverty, the government cannot complete all of these roles without the participation of individual communities or partnership institutions including zakat institutions," he added.

Meanwhile, the WZF Secretary General Prof. Dr. Bambang Sudibyo said, the selection of the capital of West Java Province as the host of the 2019 WZF International Conference was the right decision.

That was because Bambang considered that the province with the most population in Indonesia had Baznas that worked very well. "On behalf of the Chairman of the BAZNAS, I express my highest gratitude and appreciation to the Regional Government of West Java Province for providing support to the West Java Baznas, so that the West Java Baznas in our assessment includes BAZNAS provinces that are performing well in Indonesia," said Bambang.

The 2019 WZF International Conference held for three days carries the theme 'Optimizing Global Zakat Role Through Digital Technology'. WZF itself is a forum that accommodates more than 33 zakat institutions throughout the world including Indonesia, Malaysia, Britain, Egypt, the United States, Qatar, Turkey, Singapore, India, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Saudi Arabia, which aims to actively contributing to solving economic and social problems through WZF networks and programs.

In the 2019 WZF International Conference series, leaders and practitioners of world zakat institutions, regional leaders and related agencies, academics and researchers, Baznas throughout Indonesia, Amil Zakat Institutions, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), representatives of multinational institutions will discuss the challenges of the digital age and how the role of zakat in improving the community's economy.
